i all it's me again. SPECIAL.ANNOUNCEMENTI have just spent a very pleasant hour at the Dr Walkers C of E school in Fyfield talking to a group of very well behaved and sensible children aged between 9 and 11 years old. I was invited to give a talk on WW2 as this is what they are learning about and the school thought of me because I was born before the war and could relate my experiences to them. I have as you all know been to this school a few times already but I am finding that every visit gets better. This I found was my best visit so far. First my thanks must go to the headmistress Mrs Dean and her assistant headmistress Mrs Nasheef for allowing me to do something I love and that is talking to these children. I started talking and relating my wartime memories to them and I'm pleased to say hands were going up everywhere to ask questions and to which I answered. All of a sudden the teacher said the hour was up and I must be honest I was upset to stop. I could have gone on for another hour very easily. This is a bunch of well behaved educated children and it was my pleasure to talk to them. I hope I can go back and talk some more because next time I can talk about cabbying or antiques. Please invite me again. Most of them remembered me from my previous visits and we now all have become friends. I know I am the citizen of the year for North Weald and I also know a lot of you lovely people are nominating me for the BBC great neighbour of the year for Essex for what I've achieved in the past 16 months but talking to this school is right up there with all that. I get so much pleasure from it. For however I've got left I just want to keep giving pleasure and helping out because this is what keeps me ticking over. To all the parents of these children I take my hat off to you on the great job you have done bringing these children up. Another big thank you must go to the hard working and very loyal teachers at the school who also do a brilliant job. If any of you parents want to send your children there you will not be disappointed. Finally I must say a million thanks to Louise Roberts Morris who is the school administrator. She is the person who arranged all my visits to the school and l can never thank her enough. I think you may have gathered by now that I had a good time this morning and please may it carry on. My Rosemary would and is I'm sure very proud of me because this is what she used to do. She was brilliant at making people feel good and I hope I'm following her. The photo is the assistant headmistress with me. God bless you all. STAY SAFE. ROSEMARY and BRYAN xxx
